Switches
STARTER SWITCH
The combination ignition lock and starter switch has four positions: Ignition On, Starting, Accessory, and Off. Insert the ignition key and turn it 1/8 turn to the right to energize the ignition system. Continue turning the key to the right to start the engine. Turn the key to the left to operate accessories with the ignition off. To remove the key, turn it to the center or Off position. For starting suggestions, see "STARTING THE ENGINE".
HEADLIGHT SWITCH
Rotate the switch 1/8 turn to the right to turn on the parking and taillights and to illuminate the starter switch. Continue to rotate the switch knob to the right to turn on the headlights and taillights, and to turn off the parking lights. The rear license plate lamp will light up with the switch in eather position. Instruments on the panel cannot be illuminated until the headlight switch is turned to the first or second position.
PANEL LIGHT SWITCH
This combination switch serves a triple function. Rotating the switch knob 1/8 turn to the right lights up the map lights located at each end of the instrument panel. Also, when the headlight switch is on, the instruments will be illuminated. Rotating the switch knob 1/8 turn to the left to illuminate the instruments only. Continuing to rotate the knob to the left to control the intensity of instrument panel lighting to suit individual preference.
WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH
Turn the windshield wiper switch knob 1/8 turn to the right to run the wiper at slow speed. For maximum motor speed and wiper action in driving rain, continue to turn the knob to the right. Caution: Do not move wiper blades across the windshield when cleaning the glass. To clean the wiper blade, lift the wiper arm outward against the pivot spring mechanism.
DOME LAMP
A small toggle switch located in the left hand body pillar [between the windows] operates the dome lamp. The front compartment is lighted automatically when either of the doors is opened.
HORN RING
With ignition on, depress the horn ring at any point to sound the electric horns. With ignition off, horns cannot be operated. This prevents horns from blowing should an accidental short circuit develop while the car is parked.
DIRECTIONAL SIGNAL LIGHT SWITCH
Move the lever down to signal left turn; move it up to signal right turn. With the lever in either position, a warning light in the speedometer dial will flash intermittently. The lever erturns to neutral position automatically when a turn is completed, or it can be moved manually to neutral as needed.
